Consumption and Driving

Although the majority of consumers are limited and responsible users, the Hellenic Association of Brewers understands that it must act for the small portion of the population that is put at risk by irresponsible consumption.

One of the most serious dangers of improper use is driving under the influence of alcohol.

In the context of this corporate social responsibility for the education of the public on the proper consumption of alcohol, the Hellenic Association Brewers from time to time collaborates with the Road Safety Institute “P. Mylonas”, which is also a member of the European Transport Safety Council ( ETSC).

The Hellenic Association of Brewers has participated in the following actions:

• 2018: Organisation of an International Conference by the Road Safety Institute “P. Mylonas” and the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) on: Tackling driving under the influence of alcohol as part of the SMART (Sober Mobility Across Road Transport) programme.

The Hellenic Association of Brewers presented in the framework of the Conference on: “The role of industry in tackling driving under the influence of alcohol”.

• 2023: European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) video campaign on: Why governments in Europe should step up policing of driving under the influence of alcohol issues.  In cooperation with the Road Safety Institute and with the financial support of the Hellenic Association of Brewers, the video has been translated in Greek (you can see the video with Greek subtitles)

The Hellenic Association of Brewers, as a member of The Brewers of Europe, supports the actions undertaken so far, by The Brewers of Europe on this issue, such as the cooperation with many competent bodies and non-governmental organisations.
